Here Be Monsters is returning to life!
It’s Part Theatre Festival, part Art Gallery, part Hallowe’en Party, part Performance Creation Competition...
It’s a Frankenstein of a Good Time!

Vancouver's most exciting festival, featuring two evenings of the city's maddest theatre artists, returns to chart the unknown waters where time-pressurized creation and risk taking performance meet, and the Monsters emerge from the Darkness on Hallowe’en!

Go to the Festival Website for more information.

This sounds like a great Halloween party to me. It's on Granville Island, we will meet before the party and go there together or you can meet us later inside. Let me know if you want to exchange cell phone numbers.

Tickets are $12 if you're wearing a costume, $15 without costume. So make sure to dress up for this! Let's enjoy some original theater and an awesome Halloween party!

The Westside Family Place in Kitsilano is holding their annual fund raising auction event.

Read all details on their website: Event Calendar

The CBC’s Ian Hanomansing and Fred Lee will host the fourth annual Fund-Raising auction for West Side Family Place on October 15, 2009 at St. James Community Square, 3214 West 10th Avenue. This year promises to be the biggest year yet, with prizes including everything from an adventure weekend in Campbell River (accommodations, snorkeling with salmon, whale watching and heli-tour all included) to a fabulous barbeque dinner for 12 provided in your home by the chefs at Vancouver’s famous Gotham Steakhouse. There is also original jewelry designed for the Family Place by Andrew Costen, designer to the Royal Family and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and a complete Mommy Makeover by Suki’s Salon.

Smaller items include 20 spectacular gift baskets, birthday party packages for your own little one, and special treats for Mom and Dad. For a donation, you can have your picture taken with either Ian or Fred (or both!) and printed for you right there by Sony Canada.

Tickets are just $12.00 and include a night of fine food, wine, and music by the Jazz Con Brio quintet. Proceeds go to support the programs at West Side Family Place. Created 35 years ago, Family Place was the first such family resource centre in Canada, and quickly became the national model for others to follow.

Tickets may be purchased through West Side Family Place at 604-738-2819 or at Family Place. Doors open at 7pm, and will close when the goodies are gone!

This event will surely be a lot of fun! Unfortunately I will be working that night since my employers are going to a fund-raising event themselves. But if you are interested, please try to meet up and go together! I'm sure it will be fun! Also tell your employers if you live in the area!

The Westside Family Place is a great place to take little kids, I am there every Tuesday and Thursday until noon. Come and chat with me if you see me around!

Carousel Theater is a youth theater group who put on free plays on Granville Island every year.
This year they are showing Shakespeare's Macbeth. I hear their performances are really good, and they are FREE!

This will be the last night of the season, the last chance to see this play. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun.
The show starts at 7:30, so let's meet at 6:30pm at the Blue Parrot CoffeeGranville Island Public Market for a chat and a coffee. We can then walk to the theater together.

This is an outdoor theater, so bring a sweater and maybe a blanket!
If there's enough interest, we could go for dinner or girl's night afterward!

Let's get together and watch the latest Potter movie!

I think Silvercity at Metropolis (Metrotown, right at the Metrotown Skytrain station) is probably most central for all of us. On weekends there's only one zone for public transit, so it's easy to get to.

They have a screening on at 6:15pm. If that one is sold out, they still have more coming up at 7 and 7:30. Let's try the 6:15 one though, since it's a rather lengthy movie at 2 hours and 34 minutes.

Let's meet at 5:45 on top of the escalators! Then we can go buy our tickets together to make sure we all get into the theater.
We can go for a drink or some dinner after the movie.

Send me a message if you want to exchange phone numbers to make sure we actually find each other.

Hope to see many of you there!
